Gingerbread Waffles

Gingerbread Waffles

Turn a holiday favorite into a delicious morning treat that pair perfectly with morning coffee, tea, and big smiles before opening gifts!

Ingredients:
1 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground ginger
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg yolk
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup molasses
3 tbsp melted butter

Instructions:
Combine all of the dry ingredients except sugar in a large bowl and mix well. In another bowl, beat together the sugar and yolk until fluffy. Add the buttermilk, molasses and melted butter and combine well. Slowly mix in the dry ingredients until well mixed.
Spoon the mixture onto a coated and preheated waffle iron. 
Bake until golden brown on both sides.
Enjoy!

Notes: Top with confectioner sugar, whipped cream, or fruit.
