What to Learn from Capricorn Lunation?

Capricorn Moon

During the Capricorn Lunation we become more sensitive to resources, their conservation and how efficiently we use them.   We may experience the need to expand our understanding of resources beyond the physical realm to include less tangible things of value, like energy and time, innate talents, or love of family and friends.  One of our most valuable resources is the physical body, and its health and well-being is likely to become an issue this month if it is not properly tended.  This is especially true this year since Jupiter, the planet of expansion and exaggeration, entered Capricorn on December 2nd and is in close alignment with the New Moon/Solar Eclipse this month.  Physical concerns and warning signs that have been denied, or put off until a later date, are likely to be exaggerated, or come to head, making them harder to ignore.  We may feel especially inspired to adopt healthier lifestyle choices in the form of diet and exercise, and experience the discipline to see them through.  Productive use of time and energy will be more precious than ever for many, and the waste of these much less tolerable.

The Capricorn Lunation sensitizes our awareness of limitations, real or imagined, and the need for healthy boundaries.  In keeping with a heightened sensitivity to resources, we will have less tolerance of people and things that drain our resources (time, energy, money, etc.) and leave us feeling depleted rather than energized.  With the holiday season upon us, this is more challenging than usual as it is the time of the year that we are expected (or expect ourselves) to fulfill social obligations and engage in holiday activities.  However, the art of taking care of yourself is the greatest gift you can give others who care about you.  Making conscious choices about how and with whom you choose to spend energy enables you to be truly present and available in your participation.  When your own cup is full, you have plenty to give and are more likely to share your gifts willingly and lovingly with others.

The Capricorn Lunation also calls upon us to examine the level of emotional satisfaction we derive from outer world reputation and our attitudes/beliefs about responsibility.   For those who tend to take on more than their fair share of responsibility, often at the cost of their own personal needs, the burden will be felt more intensely and become less tolerable.   Proper delegation of responsibility becomes an issue, and many are more motivated than usual to insist that the “caretaker” be taken care of.  If current reality is not emotionally fulfilling, we must dare to do what is necessary to create one that is.  The Capricorn Lunation inspires us to redefine what a “responsible person” looks like.  Once again, this may require a careful reassessment of resources available (time, energy, money, talent) and their most efficient allocation.

The Capricorn question is, “Does my current experience of reality support me emotionally and reflect the valuable resource that I am?   Do I take as much responsibility for myself and my personal needs as I do for others?”  Capricorn celebrates the principle of “Heaven on Earth”, and encourages us not to separate the two.  The Mountain Goat with the tail of the Dolphin travels from the depths of the ocean to the highest mountain peaks, applying the experiences and knowledge learned about life along the way, to become the Unicorn… that gentle mystical creature that is a combination of the divine ethereal and the physical earth.  Only the purest of heart, those true to their own nature, can approach the Unicorn.  She is Pure Nature, perfected and refined, and reveals to those fortunate few who gain audience the secrets of all Earth’s blessings:  eternal abundance (the Cornucopia), Earth magic (Healing Arts, Alchemy, and Agriculture), and Civilization (Social Responsibility and Culture).   May this lunation help you to remember the Divine Human that you are, and to discover new ways to manifest that reality in the life you choose to live.
