Why are holidays so important if all they do is cause so much stress?
Holidays are an opportunity to bring to light what is causing your stress. Let’s begin by understanding what stress is. Stress is a message from your spirit, screaming something is out of balance in your life, something needs to be addressed. As a medicine woman I was trained to work with the spirit of my client to heal their body and their mind. When you learn to work with your stress as a messenger, it becomes your balancer in life. The stress of the holiday is a time to connect with your spirit and see what state it is in. Is it strong? Motivated? Connected? Lonely? Lost? Disconnected? Unappreciated? Overworked? Holidays stir up the state of your spirt. They call you back to your roots, your inner being. The core of who you are and who your spirit yearns to be. It is your choice to use this stress to your benefit, or let it use you. We have been conditioned to think that stress is something we have no control of, but in fact stress is a calling to re-evaluate the situations in your life and see how you can use it for growth and moving forward. Holiday stress is used to push you to use your inner strength, to distract you from the darkness of winter.
Religions were created for pro survival of their people, and holidays celebrated in religious practices from fasting to feasting are all designed to feed and fuel your spirit. Holidays in winter are extremely important!
Winter is the darkest time of the year. The sun is farthest away from the earth. A time your body must produce its own energy since you are getting so little from the sun. This is why more people get weak, sick and die in the winter. The hustle and bustle of holiday festivities that most feel as burden, are actually a way to keep your spirit busy and strong. The act of giving feeds your spirit. It opens your heart and lets your inner light shine.
Holidays fuel the economy; they keep the money flowing. Money is an energy, and that energy creates a flow that helps to keep us going. When you go with the flow the magic of the holiday season will carry you through. It will feed your spirit, open your heart, and remind you that when you allow, the flow of the universe will carry you. So, this holiday season, build up your spirit and let your inner light shine by getting into the hustle and bustle in a positive state of mind. Give freely of yourself, a smile, a compliment, a small gesture to pick someone else’s spirit up and let the miracle of the holidays flow through you.
