The Sacred Square

The Sacred Square

Frederich Nietzsche said:
“Man is well defended against himself; the actual fortress is inaccessible, even invisible to him, unless friends and enemies play the traitor and conduct him in by a secret path.”

Meaning we never see ourselves as others see us, and palmistry is a way of truly seeing into our life map—what life has in store and how we should negotiate its various pathways.

The square is the most protective sign in palmistry and one almost everyone carries. In the ancient palmistry of Tibet, it is called the “poi” and literally means a safe place to land.
In China, the symbol of the square was known as the Skwe or Fang and is a mark of security and safety. The Freemasons are believed to have taken the square from them for one of their secret signs.

In Muslim palmistry, the palmar marking of the square is the most sacred and potent symbol of very good luck. Called the “mark of the Kaaba,” it is seen as symbolic of the most holy site in the world, especially if seen near the Destiny or Fate line high up toward Saturn’s finger.

Where it is seen and how large it is are very important. All parts of the hand are marked off astrologically, and any line or marking attached to the square gives us more information.

  • If it is marked touching the Head Line, it gives us safety in decision-making.
  • If it is touching the Heart Line, the same applies to the heart as a bodily organ and in emotional ties.
  • When seen attached to the Destiny Line, it is known as the “sign of the flag,” as that’s just how it looks—like a flag on a flagpole.

At this time in life, it gives safety, protection, and good luck, which can be in terms of health, finances, or karma. In this position, it is usually a destined career move.

The picture shown has a long Destiny Line culminating in a large square covering a ragged Heart Line. So we know heart action is protected, and we can tell when by timing on the Destiny Line at approximately age 50. This timing is echoed on the Life Line and the Health Line, all around the same age.

This is the age of menopause, usually a time of great changes—physically, emotionally, and even spiritually.

The small and low-set Mercury finger leans toward its neighbor, telling us of some past emotional abuse or difficulty, and yet signs of a wedding ring are apparent by the gap in the print. From all this, we can tell a lot about that particular time in the life.

Sometimes the Sacred Square can be seen with a forked Head Line, known since the Middle Ages as the “sign of the Fish,” as it resembles a fish’s tail. The Fish was a secret sign in early Christianity and is also seen as sacred in other faiths.

The Fish together with the Kaaba is a great blessing. These people always have a deep spiritual commitment to the planet, its people, and its animals.

The illustration also shows another square on the Mount of Luna, touching the Destiny Line. A square here always tells of protection from drowning, as Luna (the Moon) governs all the waters of the earth—and the body.

The vast majority of those who write to me ask questions about destiny. Many psychics will avoid this topic and talk about free will. However, I recommend the two books by Dr. Michael Newton, Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls, as he looks into how we plan our lives before birth.

This planning often leaves important signposts in the hands. As the Book of Job (37:7) says:
“For God has placed signs and seals in the hands of men, that all may know their works.”

If you read for others, remember that palmistry in ancient India was used for medical diagnosis and in Greece for life guidance. Always read with understanding, kindness, and compassion.

When I was a teenager, I once went to a well-known palmist who criticized me and made me feel very small. This, I thought, was very unprofessional. Remember:
“You do not make your candle burn brighter by blowing out another’s.”

Look in your own hand for a lucky square. You may be very surprised.

“Happy Palmistry!”
