Monthly Challenge – Introduce Fasting into your Life

Fasting into your Life

Have you ever wondered why we lose appetite when we are sick? It basically means that our body is visiting our inner doctor, the personal healer who is built within us working 24/7 to protect our wellbeing. Fasting is an ancient and simple way to get healthier and happier. According to Ayurveda traditions, the best days to fast are Ekadashi days. Fasting on Ekadashi days will have the best effect not only for the body, but also for our spiritual health.

Ekadashi takes place on the 11th and the 26th Lunar days. Spiritually, Ekadashi symbolizes 11 senses constituting 5 sense organs, 5 action organs and one mind.

We all know how the Moon governs the movement of water on Earth, and since we are more than 70% of water, the movement of our body fluids are dependent on the Moon cycle as well.

Fasting on Ekadashi helps to maintain a natural flow of fluids in the body which allows to maintain good health and a peaceful mind. Scientifically, fasting also helps to improve the functions of digestion, respiration, and circulation.

So, mark your calendar for all Ekadashi days in 2022 and make fasting your new monthly routine. Regular fasting can boost your immunity, lower the blood sugar levels, help rejuvenate, protect your heart and brain.

In February, Ekadashi days are on the 12th and the 27th. (Please note that the beginning and end of the Ekadashi period vary based on the time zone you are in.)
