Medicine Woman Perspective on Eye Health

Eye Health

When my mother was 50 years old, she was diagnosed with the onset of macular degeneration. By the time she turned 65, she was blind. I worked very hard to help her keep her eyesight, but nothing helped. I was successful in helping her avoid heart surgery. I got her diabetes under control without medicine, but for some reason, no matter what we tried, she still lost most of her eyesight.  Why? Why wouldn’t anything help?  As I attentively listened, one day the answer came. It was, “It is time for her to go inward, learn to use her third eye, and identify the behaviors that were feeding the blindness. Change the attitude, the blame, and judgement game. Go inward and look at yourself. Own your life. Don’t blame others for the decisions you made – it leaves you stuck. Face your weaknesses. Find the growth in your mistakes. And nurture and nourish yourself with nutritional food and love.” Wow, how do you tell your mother something like that?

I watched my Mom lose her eyesight, and I witnessed her develop and use her third eye to see: she took perfect pictures with her camera – yes, group photos too and left no one out. She painted pictures, made beautiful cards, and knitted hats for cancer patients. More importantly, toward the end of her life, going inward gave her the opportunity to heal many hurts in her life that she never wanted to face. I witnessed the miracle of my Mom’s eyesight coming back! Before she died at the age of 83, she could see with all three eyes.

Your eyes are how you see life.  It is how you perceive what is going on.  The quality of your eyesight represents how you are viewing life. When you don’t want to see things, you create false perceptions of what is right or wrong, good or bad, and sway from your truth. With time, these manifest into eye problems. Your emotions show themselves in your physical bodies as dis- ease. The way you are willing or unwilling to see life has a direct correlation to the health of your eyes.  When you don’t want to see truth, it can blind you physically and emotionally.

Of all your senses, your eyesight provides the most information to your brain. When you see things with a positive attitude, energies flow freely to the eyes. If you perceive things from a negative point of view, it causes the energies to the eyes to become depleted.  This creates energy blockages that materialize into eye problems.

Your eyes are how you view life.  Those that are nearsighted are lacking vision; don’t want or can’t see the future.  When you are caught up focus only in the present and can’t or won’t see how your actions will affect the future, you block yourself from seeing the impact.  Procrastinating, doing things last minute, not taking into account how your actions will affect others, not willing to see the difficulties ahead.  This way of seeing life creates the nearsightedness.

Those that are farsighted aren’t being flexible and looking at life as a whole.  They are getting stuck on the little or unimportant things in life endnote seeing what is right in front of them.

Cataracts represent how you are seeing your life diminish and you can’t or refuse to see things clearly.

Before eye problems manifest in the physical, they begin in the spirit, in your mind’s eye. Spiritually they are allowing you to look inward more than outward.

So, how you see life can either unveil or blind you. It is your choice to remain in the dark or to see clearly. It is your own denial, your resistance to go inward that prevents your healing. Your true sight is in the third eye. Going inward and activating your third eye gives you inner clarity, enlightens your mind to a higher understanding. It is the light that leads your way.
