Lunar Living – August

Lunar Living

Use the Energy of the Moon to Make the Most of Your Life

August 1, Moon in Taurus

People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying “Soften the orange a bit on the right-hand corner.” I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds” – Carl Rogers

August 2- 4, Moon in Gemini

As Luna travels through Gemini, we are a bit more sensitive to the many ways our feelings color our thoughts, and how our emotions influence our thinking process in general. This is a great time to play with alternative perspectives and imagine a variety of different outcomes or solutions to ongoing problems. Nothing is locked in stone! So many possibilities exist in thought! Luna in Gemini is the Peter Pan Moon! When life gets too complicated and heaviosity prevails, we can always fly away to Never Neverland. Your inner Tinkerbell knows the way! – Kim McSherry

August 5- 6, Moon in Cancer

Let the feelings flow as feelings are meant to do. Excellent time to heal emotional trauma from the past, family karma, and unhealthy emotional patterns that no longer serve your sense of peace and emotional well-being. Family trees are ready for new branches to sprout! Let the new and improved emotional program take root! The next generation will thank you for your efforts! – Kim McSherry

August 7-9, Moon in Leo NEW MOON

Sometimes sharing your light requires revealing your darkness. Sharing light means helping to make conscious or facilitate awareness. It does not mean sharing toxic positivity. Sometimes empowerment requires that you let those you love stew in their own negativity until they can climb out on their own. To hold the space for them to go through the process, without judgment or criticism, is the gift you can give. Like the seedling pushing through the resistant dirt towards the sun, or the newborn pushing its way toward the light of day, sometimes the struggle is necessary as it fosters strength and faith in one’s ability to survive what comes next.

Knowing when to shine light or create a safe place to hold the darkness … these are Leo’s real superpowers! – Kim McSherry

August 8 – New Moon in Leo

Today we begin a new lunar cycle which is full of magical, high frequency vibrational energy. New Moons are always a power time for intention setting, but this is even more so when the New Moon falls in the highly creative sign of Leo and alongside the Lionsgate Portal. Think about what you wish to create in your life, allow this creation to come straight from your heart, and then put it out there into the world so it can be manifested into your reality. – Katerina Belik

August 10-11, Moon in Virgo

When Luna moves through Virgo, we are reminded to live life consciously. Success is measured by getting through each day in a “good way” and treating this daily process of living life well as the most sacred of all journeys. Health and well-being are the product of living life in a balanced way, aware and respectful of your own natural rhythms, and willing to do what is needed to honor them. If you need more rest, make time to rest. As you prepare that meal to nurture your body and the bodies of those you love, be aware of your thoughts and add meaningful prayer toward that end to the recipe. Creative solutions to life’s problems are often born in those moments when we’ve switched the focus from dwelling on the problem to doing the laundry, making the bed, washing the dishes, etc. When we chop wood, carry water as life demands, we discover the silent world within, where intuitive knowing, untold wisdom and divine clarity dwell. – Kim McSherry

August 12-13, Moon in Libra

It is the harmony of the diverse parts, their symmetry, their happy balance; in a word it is all that introduces order, all that gives unity, that permits us to see clearly and to comprehend at once both the ensemble and the details. – Henri Poincare

August 14-15, Moon in Scorpio

As Luna travels through Scorpio, we become more sensitive to our mastery of our own energetic system and our ability to manipulate our own energy to influence current reality. Are you in charge of your own buttons? Or do you allow external happenings and other people determine your capacity to be balanced and emotionally at peace? The word “power” is attributed to the sign of Scorpio. In fact, Scorpio’s superpower is emotional self-mastery, which is our ability to choose how we will respond to external stimuli and emotional triggers. The only real power anyone has is the power of self-control, the power to choose who I am and how I will be in any given situation. When I choose to share my light, in the form of kindness, tolerance, understanding, etc., I truly can affect positive change in the world. I can grow things, rather than cause them to wither. I can help lift others, rather than validate their belief that the world, and everyone in it, is cruel. It’s not always easy. It takes conscious awareness and a lot of deep breaths to demonstrate understanding when you really want to rip somebody’s face off. But my response in those moments really can change the world. So, when you smile at that harried, overworked, rude cashier, and acknowledge that he is having a bad day, you’ll save all those folks in line behind you from being drenched in his negative energy. That, my friend, is power! – Kim McSherry

August 16-17, Moon in Sagittarius

“Don’t be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart.” – Roy T. Bennett

August 18-19, Moon in Capricorn

Life is the classroom! I find myself pondering this profound Truth as Luna wanders through Capricorn . What specific lessons have I learned from the experiences I have gone through and the people I have encountered on this journey? How would I be different without them? What wisdom have I earned from navigating it as I have? What gifts am I able to contribute to the world because of that wisdom? It truly is The Great Mystery, this brief trip we’re on in this form of flesh and blood. – Kim McSherry

August 20-22, Moon in Aquarius FULL MOON

“Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about unbecoming everything that isn’t really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place” – Paulo Coelho

This Full Moon illuminates the conflict between individual and collective needs. Feelings, attitudes, and circumstances that are already in existence are taking bigger proportions and higher intensity. It is a beginning of a cosmic test. It is a time of spiritual awakening to attune to the demands of humanity.  – Katerina Belik

August 22-24, Moon in Pisces

“Courage doesn’t always roar, sometimes it’s the quiet voice at the end of the day whispering ‘I will try again tomorrow” ~Mary Anne Radmacher

August 25-26, Moon in Aries

As Luna travels through Aries, it’s good to notice being!

The joys and sorrows, the blessings and the problems, the accomplishments and the work in progress processes, the highs and the lows ….. you are the SOURCE of it all. This being alive business is a full-time job. Every once in a while, it’s good to pause and evaluate just how well you are doing the job! Luna is Aries is a great time for me to check in with me, tend to me as needed, and upgrade my definition of me as required. If you don’t notice any changes, check your pulse! Heaven forbid you died and didn’t even notice! – Kim McSherry

August 27-29, Moon in Taurus

Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. – Khalil Gibran

August 30-31, Moon in Gemini

The art of living in present tense is a skill. As Luna travels through Gemini , it’s good to spend time noticing when you veer from this being in the present consciousness, and gently return to it. Work on your immediate environment and the things, thoughts, people, and activities with which you surround yourself in your daily everyday life. If it adds to your existence, it’s a keeper! If it depletes you energetically or emotionally, it needs to go! If you can’t let it go, practice a new perspective about its value in your life. Whenever possible, fill your space and your awareness with that which feeds your soul and lifts your spirit! This little life we live on a daily basis deserves your attention and your care. Leave the crazy at the door as you enter your sanctuary. Home is where the healing happens! Or at least it should be!
