DIY Face Masks to Refresh Your Skin

DIY Face Masks to Refresh Your Skin

Spring is here, and it is time for us to bloom too!  Let’s give our skin some much-needed pampering. We put together some DIY recipes of simple and effective face masks.

Detox and rejuvenate your skin!

•  tsp clay (Bentonite)
• 2 tsp aloe vera juice
• 1 tsp natural raw honey
• A splash of natural spring water

HOW IT WORKS:

Aloe Vera is filled to bursting with vitamins A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, B6 and B12 which means its radiance-boosting, skin-soothing and hydrating properties are pretty much unrivalled.

Honey as a facial treatment may help skin retain moisture. It also heals dry or chapped skin and can give you firmer, smoother skin.

This refreshing spring mask will hydrate your skin from within. For calming effects simply add a few drops of lavender essential oil to the mix. Lavender’s distinctive scent can help relax the nervous system and it is particularly useful for relieving symptoms of restlessness, irritability and insomnia.

Mix all of the ingredients together to form a smooth paste, massage gently into your face and neck and leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.

NOTE!Do not use a metal bowl or spoon with Bentonite clay. Mix all the ingredients together in a non-metal bowl then apply to a clean face.

Improve Your Skin Texture and Tone

• 1 tablespoon of natural, plain yoghurt (not a fruity or flavored variety)
• 1 tablespoon of honey
• 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder

HOW IT WORKS:

This breakfast staple is also a great skin smoother and purifier. Yogurt contains lactic acid, a compound found in some chemical peels, that may help clear blemishes, discoloration, and reduce fine wrinkles.

Thanks to moisture magnet honey, skin feels soft and elastic. Turmeric is useful for combating pigmentation – perfect if you’ve been sun-worshipping a little too long.

Mix the ingredients and apply on a clean face avoiding the eye area. Leave it on for 15 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.

Soothe And Calm Your Skin

• 1 teaspoon honey
• 1 teaspoon coconut oil
• ¼ ripe avocado
• 2 drops of lavender oil

HOW IT WORKS:

Avocadoes are a great source for heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, vitamin B and potassium that can also help moisturize the skin and act as an exfoliating mask for dry skin.

Like one big glow in a bowl, this delicious-sounding face mask delivers deep hydration from the coconut oil, gives your skin a hit of antioxidants with the honey and soothes redness with the lavender oil. Mix it up and paint it on with a face mask brush for the ultimate at-home spa experience.

This is a great mask for moisture and to calm the skin.’

Reduce Puffiness of Your Eyes

• 2 bags of Green Tea (organic)

HOW IT WORKS:

Green tea is loaded with anti-inflammatory compounds and tannins to help reduce puffiness on your skin. Green tea also provides antioxidants to fight against premature aging.

Chill damp tea bags in the fridge and put on eyes for 10–15 minutes.

Tips:

Ingredients exposed to air and bacteria will very quickly go off and could easily irritate the skin. To be on the safe side, make your mask with fresh organic ingredients and use it within an hour of mixing.

Just like trying out a new laser or acid treatment, it pays to do a quick patch test to see how your skin will react.
