Overview
As the Uranus-Rahu (north lunar node) conjunction energy is waning (being separated more than three degrees now), its manifestation will be reflected in a less violent and less anxiety-filled-atmosphere, especially in the United States.
However, the energy of the Saturn-Uranus square (Sept 15 – Oct 23) cannot be ignored as the clashes between the democratic and totalitarian regimes of the world, especially between the Unites States and Russia, United States and China will likely to continue as well as the clashes between the democrats and the republicans in the United States will intensify. Another manifestation of energy of the Saturn-Uranus square is the recently erupted violence in Iran due to the protest over a woman’s death in police custody.
On an individual level, the good news is Mercury turns direct on October 2. While it will take Mercury a week or two to return to its average speed, the working of its retrograde energy will weaken and be over after October 10.
Since Saturn’s return to the sidereal Capricorn last month joining Pluto, the course of destructive and fearful period, war like atmosphere, future uncertainties, senseless killings, and chaotic situations all around the world will continue, especially in Ukraine. The uncertainties and anxieties will clearly be reflected in the volatile world financial markets.
With Neptune’s return to the sidereal Aquarius on September 17, we have been witnessing a temporary but a strong shift in our collective consciousness, and it is well reflected in a turnaround in Putin’s behavior. With decline in support for war both internationally and domestically, he has changed his position in maneuvering the war. This change is likely to prove to be a confusing one. Being cornered, humiliated, and isolated, Putin may become irrational and resort to tactics that could result in further escalation of the war with far more senseless killings.
Retrograde Mercury (Sept 10 – Oct 2)
On September 10, the planet Mercury turned retrograde in sidereal Virgo. It will stay retrograde in Virgo all the time until it becomes direct on October 2. Typically, retrograde Mercury means communication breakdowns, unexpected delays, frustrations, missing deadlines, unforeseen obstacles. Retrograde Mercury in Virgo means more frustrating periods for small businesses, working-class blue-collar people, money managers, farmers, builders, and students. This is not a good time to start a new project or venture, but rather reflect on what’s been done so far.
In addition, if you have dominating Mercury in your birth chart and if Mercury is currently your active planet, then you are more likely to experience pronounced effects of retrograde Mercury with respect to matters signified by the house it’s transiting through in your Gochar (transit) chart. However, for those who have Leo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Aquarius, Aries, or Gemini as their ninefold ascendant are least likely to be affected during this period.
Saturn’s return to sidereal Capricorn
(July 14 – April 15, 2023)
On July 14, Saturn with its retrograde motion returned to sidereal Capricorn and it will stay in Capricorn until April 15, 2023.
Capricorn being the earth and cardinal sign, Saturn’s energy has strongly been reflected in the volatility of the world financial markets, especially the energy (oil) markets, economy, and material expansion/contraction. Entrepreneurs, business leaders, politicians, philanthropists, philosophers, scientists, reformers, and to some extent monks will shape the future of the world. Those who have Saturn in Capricorn in their natal charts will be experiencing Saturn’s energy as their lives get transformed to a new setting due to a drastic change mostly at material and psychological levels. In my opinion, despite a painful period of frustration due to unexpected drastic changes in life, it’s going to be an exciting period for those who have dominant Saturn in their birth chart and have Pisces, Aries, Leo, and Scorpio as their natal ninefold (Navamansha) ascendant.
Furthermore, the Saturn’s return to the sidereal Capricorn on July 14, joining Pluto will certainly not let up the destructive and fearful period, war like atmosphere, future uncertainties, senseless killings, and chaotic situations all around the world, especially in the United States.
Clashes between Democratic and totalitarian regimes (Sept 15 – Oct 23)
One of the most important and deadly planetary combinations of 2022 is the Capricorn Saturn and Aries Uranus square, which occurs within one degree during Sept 15-Oct 23.
Aries, being a fire and cardinal sign, is very “suitable” for brilliant, independent, ambitious, energetic, impulsive, and crazy Uranus. The changes in world political landscape have been tremendously influenced by Uranus’s transit in Aries.
Now, combine the Uranus’s energy with that of steadfast and subtle but very powerful energy of Capricorn Saturn through its challenging square with Uranus. It’s a perfect combination for material world disasters, including the natural and man-made calamities. Unless these energies are properly understood, the hardships might include increased friction between world powers (USA-Russia and China) perhaps resulting into war-like climate.
The people who are likely to be most affected by this square are military personnel, business and political leaders. In scientific and technological areas expect some drastic changes and new ideas will find their ways into innovations and discoveries. Since the characteristics of Uranus are closely tied with that of the United States as a country (especially the states of California, Oregon, and Washington), the likelihood of serious natural and man-made problems, political and financial upheaval is very strong.
The manifestation of this undesirable planetary square is likely to cause destruction and loss of lives. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if an intense battle emerges between the right-wing republicans and the left wing democrats not only in congress but all over the country.
However, a potential for profound spiritual growth, both individually and collectively is an amazing silver lining of this materially destructive Uranus-Saturn square.
Russia-Ukraine War
During October, the momentum of the war between Russia and Ukraine will continue with unprecedented casualties on both sides. Ukraine will continue to have an upper hand in this war. It’s very likely that US involvement in this war may become more prominent due to the Uranus-Saturn square (Sept 15 – Oct 23). Until Saturn completely returns to Aquarius (April 2023), the Ukraine war is likely to continue its course devastating and destabilizing the region.
Neptune’s temporary return to the Sidereal Aquarius

Uranus-Saturn Square (Sept 15 – Oct 23)
