Astrological Insights for March 2026

The month begins with a total lunar eclipse on March 3, occurring approximately between 10:30 and 12:30 GMT. This eclipse will be visible from Western North America, Australia, New Zealand, and East Asia, with a “blood moon” phase lasting about 58 minutes. Individuals who have the lunar nodes in conjunction with either the Sun or Moon in their natal charts should exercise caution. This is not an auspicious day for initiating new activities or ventures. Extra care and restraint are advised during the eclipse period.

Since the last week of February, Mercury has turned retrograde in sidereal Aquarius, potentially triggering anxiety, communication breakdowns, unexpected delays, frustrations, missed deadlines, unforeseen obstacles, and general disappointment in daily routines. These effects are likely to be felt more strongly by those with Mercury prominently active in their transit charts, continuing until approximately March 21.

Worldwide political and social events are expected to remain strongly influenced by the close Saturn–Neptune conjunction (within three degrees) in sidereal Pisces, which remains active until March 29. The impact of this challenging alignment is likely to intensify the Ukraine–Russia conflict, fuel uprisings and protests against the Iranian government by its citizens, contribute to the unstable political environment in Venezuela, and sustain ongoing tensions throughout the Middle East.

The acceleration of both Saturn and Neptune in sidereal Pisces further sets the stage for notable global political and social developments. Saturn’s secretive, strategic, and authoritative tendencies, combined with Neptune’s deceptive, elusive, and obscuring energy, suggest a continued rise in covert operations among major world powers. The United States, Europe, Ukraine, Russia, China, Israel, and several Middle Eastern nations appear central to these unfolding dynamics. The full scope of such activities is unlikely to be immediately visible, with disclosures, revelations, and scandals expected to surface gradually in the months ahead.

As further emphasized in the 2026 annual predictions (outlined below), the Saturn–Neptune conjunction is expected to dominate global attention during this period. The Ukraine–Russia war, along with the Epstein file scandals and related inquiries, is likely to emerge as some of the most closely watched developments of the month.

“The most important planetary configuration for 2026 is likely to be dominated by the Saturn–Neptune conjunction in the water sign (sidereal) Pisces, as the Ukraine–Russia war takes center stage in world events. While no single event can be predicted with absolute certainty, the Epstein file scandals and inquiries are likely to surface and gain momentum during February 8–March 29. Other scandals related to military covert operations and the healthcare industry may no longer remain hidden and could come into the spotlight.”

The transits of the personal planets—Venus (March 1) and the Sun (March 14)—through sidereal Pisces form another significant planetary configuration for March, as both planets conjoin Saturn and Neptune. This alignment is likely to manifest as heightened activity levels, setting the tone for important personal developments throughout the year. With Pisces being a water sign, subtle yet productive efforts may increase beyond average levels, particularly during the first half of the month.

On March 11Jupiter turns direct in sidereal Gemini, allowing stalled business matters and material expansion efforts to regain momentum.

Lastly, with all modern planets—Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus—now turned direct, their influence continues to operate subtly yet powerfully. This configuration supplies momentum for deeper introspection, long-term transformation, and shifts in global perspective. Despite ongoing material, political, and geopolitical turmoil, this relatively rare planetary alignment supports determination, inner growth, and an evolution toward higher collective awareness. Humanity’s journey, though turbulent, appears guided toward a profound spiritual realignment.

A Total Lunar Eclipse (March 3)

A total lunar eclipse occurs on March 3, approximately between 10:30 and 12:30 GMT. It will be visible from Western North America, Australia, New Zealand, and East Asia, with the “blood moon” phase lasting about 58 minutes.

This eclipse is particularly significant because the Sun and Moon will be within four degrees of Rahu and Ketu, respectively, extending the eclipse influence to more than two hours. The eclipse occurs with the Southern (descending) node Ketu in the sidereal zodiac sign Leo, and the Northern (ascending) node Rahu in Aquarius.

According to Vedic astrology, this configuration may be sensitive for individuals who have sidereal Leo or Aquarius rising, or Leo or Aquarius as their Moon sign. Those who have the lunar nodes in conjunction with either the Sun or Moon in their natal charts should exercise additional caution. It is advisable to avoid initiating new ventures or making major commitments during the eclipse period.

On the world stage, regions where the eclipse is most visible—including Western North America, Hawaii, the Pacific island region, Australia, New Zealand, and Eastern Asia—may experience heightened volatility or notable developments. While eclipses do not determine specific events, they often coincide with turning points, revelations, or intensified circumstances in areas under their visibility path.

Retrograde Mercury (February 26 – March 21)

On February 26, the planet Mercury turned retrograde in sidereal Aquarius. It will remain retrograde in Aquarius until it becomes direct on March 21. Typically, retrograde Mercury brings anxiety, communication breakdowns, unexpected delays, frustrations, missed deadlines, unforeseen obstacles, and disappointment in daily routines.

Retrograde Mercury in Aquarius indicates a particularly frustrating period for academics, intellectuals, journalists, professionals working in communications (including internet- and AI-related fields), and those employed in airline and aviation industries.

This is not an ideal time to begin a new project or venture. Instead, it is best suited for reflection on what has already been accomplished. It is also an excellent period to clear clutter—such as organizing closets—and to complete chores or tasks that have been postponed due to lack of time.

In addition, if Mercury is a dominant planet in your birth chart and is currently active in your transit chart, you are likely to experience the effects of this retrograde more intensely. These influences will manifest most strongly in the areas of life represented by the house Mercury is transiting through in your Gochar (transit) chart.

Saturn-Neptune Conjunction (February 8 – March 29)

After turning direct last November, Saturn once again moved closer to Neptune in sidereal Pisces, forming their third close conjunction within three degree during the period from February 8 through March 29. This phase represents the most intense expression of the Saturn–Neptune conjunction.

Both Saturn and Neptune are well aligned with the spiritual water sign Pisces, where Saturn’s wisdom and discipline merge with Neptune’s ideals of universal love, compassion, and transcendence. This alignment suggests the potential for a harmonious phase of spiritual evolution. Philosophers, philanthropists, social reformers, and spiritually driven scientists and entrepreneurs are likely to emerge as influential voices, helping shape a more compassionate and mindful global landscape.

On a broader societal level, particularly when examining capitalist and communist systems, Saturn—with its traditional, structured, and conservative orientation—aligns more naturally with capitalist frameworks. In contrast, Neptune’s idealistic and compassionate nature inspired Karl Marx’s vision of a pure and egalitarian society, later known as communism. In practice, however, communism has struggled to thrive due to the unrealistic expectation that individuals will consistently act according to Neptune’s idealistic principles. As a result, such systems often devolve into authoritarian regimes, where power becomes concentrated in the hands of a few. This reflects the more problematic expression of Neptune’s energy, which tends to manifest when Neptune operates through unfavorable signs, particularly fire or earth signs.

However, when Neptune is positioned in its most favorable sign, Pisces, authoritarian regimes tend to come under increasing pressure. Neptune in Pisces strongly challenges authoritarian structures. At the material level, Saturn’s structured and grounded energy confronts Neptune’s free-spirited ideals, highlighting the ongoing tension between capitalism and communism—especially in its modern authoritarian expressions.

Consequently, as a result of this close conjunction, Russian President Vladimir Putin, along with other authoritarian leaders around the world—including those in Iran, China, Venezuela, and North Korea—may begin to experience a gradual weakening of their grip on power, particularly under mounting pressures from war, economic strain, and internal unrest. With Saturn and Neptune forming a close conjunction in Pisces, global conflicts are likely to escalate further, especially in regions already marked by war or heightened geopolitical tension. The Ukraine–Russia conflict, in particular, may intensify and enter a more volatile phase, alongside increased internal unrest in Iran.

On an individual level, this conjunction may prove challenging for those with poorly placed Saturn and Neptune in their natal charts. The nature and severity of these challenges will depend on the zodiac signs and houses these planets occupy. This period may be emotionally and psychologically demanding, especially for individuals connected with hospitals, prisons, asylums, sanatoriums, assisted living facilities, or other secluded environments, where painful or deceptive experiences may surface. Conversely, for those with Saturn and Neptune favorably placed in their natal charts, this conjunction may mark a deeply rewarding spiritual phase, offering profound insight, inner growth, and transformative experiences.

Russian–Ukraine and Israel–Hamas/Gaza Conflicts

Under the ongoing Saturn–Neptune close conjunction in sidereal Pisces, prolonged geopolitical conflicts are likely to remain unresolved despite repeated diplomatic efforts. Saturn represents structure, boundaries, and political authority, while Neptune dissolves certainty, erodes trust, and obscures motives. When these two planets converge so closely, peace initiatives often struggle to gain traction, not due to lack of effort, but because underlying mistrust, deception, and unresolved karmic patterns continue to undermine meaningful resolution.

In the Russia–Ukraine conflict, this Saturn–Neptune dynamic suggests continued stalemate and escalation rather than closure. Negotiations are likely to remain fragile, with Ukraine deeply cautious of Russia’s intentions due to prior violations and shifting narratives. Under this influence, agreements may appear viable on the surface yet fail to produce lasting stability, prolonging human suffering and economic strain.

Similarly, in the Israel–Hamas conflict, Saturn–Neptune in Pisces highlights the tragic persistence of violence rooted in decades of unresolved historical, religious, and ideological divisions. While temporary ceasefires may emerge, they are unlikely to address the deeper emotional and spiritual fractures driving the conflict. The ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza reflects the shadow expression of this conjunction—where compassion exists but is overwhelmed by fear, confusion, and the absence of mutual trust.

From an astrological perspective, Saturn–Neptune periods rarely deliver swift or decisive endings to wars. Instead, they expose the limitations of purely political or military solutions and emphasize the need for deeper moral, psychological, and spiritual reckoning. Without such a shift in collective consciousness, conflicts influenced by this conjunction tend to persist, exacting a heavy toll on civilian populations and delaying true reconciliation.
