How do you begin your day? Is there a tendency for chaos? Spending the morning more holistically can drastically improve the overall vibration of the day, and help to include more mindfulness and reconnection to the self. Here are nine ways to incorporate holistic living into your mornings.
- Thankfulness. When you wake up, write down or mentally note three things you are grateful for. This will begin the day with positivity! As a bonus, also write down or note one thing you like about yourself.
- Hydrate. Before your morning coffee or tea, try to drink at least one glass of water. This will help your body function more efficiently.
- Oil pull. While it is not recommended to do this every morning, implementing oil pulling as part of your daily routine will improve your teeth, gums, tongue, and work to remove toxins from your body. To do this, swish coconut or olive oil around your mouth for ten to twenty minutes before spitting into a garbage can. Then, rinse with warm water. Never rinse coconut oil into the sink, as it will harden and cause plumbing issues.
- Exercise. Doing some light yoga or any other non-intensive workout will help your body wake up and increase your energy.
- Breakfast. It’s the most important meal of the day, and yet one of the most forgotten. I find that a light meal of eggs or fruit is a perfect way to begin each day.
- Make a list. Making a list of what you want to accomplish during the day will help your mind stay on track and not feel as cluttered trying to remember everything that needs to be done.
- Step outside. Whether you have a pet that needs to run around the yard or just enjoying a cup of coffee or tea, step into nature and breathe some fresh air.
- Ditch the snooze button. It’s so easy to hit that button when we’re nestled in our blankets, but getting up at your intended time will help your body get into a healthy rhythm.
- Share positivity. Spend your morning meeting a friend for coffee, leave sweet note for your significant other, or send a good morning text to a loved one when you do check your phone. Sharing the positive energy!
