Aquarian Age Principles & The Realm of Invisible Energy
“Once you accept the universe as matter expanding into nothing that is something,
wearing stripes with plaid comes easy.”
(Albert Einstein)
The Aquarian Age began “cusping” in the mid 1700’s, with the discovery of Uranus, the planetary ruler of Aquarius. Since then, Aquarian principles and concepts have been growing in the collective mind, and asserting ever stronger influence on our perspectives and the way we live our lives. This influence has been felt profoundly through the scientific and technological advances that have increased our understanding of “invisible energies”, those that don’t necessarily register with the five physical senses. These have always existed, but until recently have been relegated to the realm of mysticism and the abilities of those few adepts who learned to manipulate them. New scientific theories and advances in technology now make it possible to test and measure this invisible energy realm, giving it credence and spawning a plethora of applications for its use.
The symbols for Aquarius, a glyph composed of two parallel “lightening bolts” and the Water Bearer as its representative, provide us with important clues about the nature of new age energy and the shifts in perspective that our growing awareness of it fosters. Aquarius is an air sign, as far removed from the watery realm as can be. Although the ancients knew it existed, they didn’t know how to depict it. For lack of a more accurate conceptualization, they chose water pouring out from a jug to represent the constant flow of invisible energy waves that emanate from all living things, surround us, and influence life on earth in ways imperceptible to the traditional five senses. This concept was beautifully depicted in the move Star Wars, when Obewan Kenobi explained the presence of “The Force” to Luke Skywalker. It’s in us and around us, and with practice and exercise, it can work through us. It’s important to remember that Darth Vader was equally adept in the ways of The Force, so this energy is neither “good” nor “bad”. In keeping with Aquarian ideal of equality, mastery of The Force is equally possible for everyone, regardless of how one intends to use it.
With the recent scientific and technological advances of this “Fourth Industrial Revolution” in which we find ourselves today, we continue to discover/invent/develop new ways to measure and test this invisible energy field, validating its existence and exploring its application in a variety of fields. For example, people sensitive to the invisible energetic emanations of all living things (the “life force”) have always been able to see auras. However, it wasn’t until the invention of Kirlian photography in 1939 that it became “okay” for anyone to see auras. No longer is this “gift” reserved for the mystics or the “psychologically imbalanced”. Psychic intuitives, remote viewers, sensitives, empaths, healers, clairvoyants and mediums are no longer automatically relegated to the realm of charlatan or psychotic. ESP is now considered an ability grounded in science, and studies abound to determine how and why it works. Advances in the neurological sciences through brain mapping and high powered scanners have enabled us to actually see parts of the brain involved in those who experience valid ESP episodes. The “miracle” of the Piscean age has become the “result of skillful manipulation of the energy field”. The “power of prayer” increasingly gives way to the ability to manifest our intentions because thoughts have substance and we have the power to change our reality through focusing thought on a desired outcome. The perspective of Human Being as co-creator and lead actor in his/her/other own drama continues to replace the concept of Human Being as pawn or subject dependent on the whims of a higher power. “God” is no longer a separate entity that exists out there, apart from me. “God” as “The Force” lives within me and works through me. The acceptance and proof of the invisible energy realm has dramatically and profoundly influenced, not only our spiritual perspectives, but our sensitivity to, tolerance of, and responsibility for the energy field that surrounds each and every one of us.
“You are not separate from the whole. You are one with the sun, the earth, the air.
You don’t have a life. You are life.
(Eckhart Tolle)
Words like “synchronicity” and “resonance” have replaced the concept of coincidence in our everyday reality. Quantum physics has introduced us to a new way of perceiving the way the world works and our place in it. Personal autonomy, an important Aquarian Age value, requires that we take personal responsibility for our own energy field. This idea is most evident in the area of medicine and healing. The importance of the body-mind-soul connection in healing is a relatively new idea for the medical profession, as is taking personal responsibility for one’s own health and well-being. In mom’s day, doctor was God, not to be questioned or challenged in any way. Today, a second opinion is not only encouraged, but expected. Acceptance of “invisible energy”, and its healing potential if properly manipulated, has spawned a whole bevy of energetic healing modalities now available, some new, some ancient, but previously denied in the Western World. For example, reiki, acupuncture, polarity therapy, just to name a few, are all practices based on the correct realignment of the body’s energetic system. Invisible energy fields have always been around. What’s new is the willingness of science to take them seriously and be willing to name them, develop them and work with them.
Respect for invisible energy has influenced the new age perspective of Mother Earth as well. As a living breathing organism, she too possesses an energy field, which, when left to her own devices, has always served Humanity well. We have always “felt” the sacredness of certain places, or experienced a specific kind of energy in one area of the world that doesn’t seem to exist elsewhere. We now have the technology to measure “energy vortexes” and invisible grids that hold or emanate specific kinds of energy, sometimes healing and conducive to creative expression, sometimes dark and seemingly “demonic” in nature, like the famous suicide forest of Japan or the deep caves and caverns used for ritualistic sacrifice by the Ancient Mayans. Human interference with Mother Earth’s energy field is finally being recognized for the dangerous potential it poses. Besides the very real and obvious damage caused by the rape and depletion of natural resources, the extinction of thousands of species of life on earth, and the poisoning of air, water and soil, there is growing awareness of the less obvious energetic disruption caused by human ignorance and greed. For example, the gouging of crystal mines in Arkansas and lava rock in Hawaii has changed the energy grids of these areas. A few years ago, the indigenous people of Hawaii begged tourists to return their lava souvenirs to Pele for fear of her wrath. Some may call this superstition. I suggest it is a sincere plea of people connected to the land and sensitive to its energetic balance.
Like everything else since the discovery of Uranus, both physical and energetic evolution has basically been speeding up for centuries. Years ago I read somewhere that scientists propose that we only use about 3% of the brain’s capacity. I suggest that number has been raised to 5% within the last few decades. Children being born today are resonating at a much higher vibration, and this trend will only continue to grow exponentially in the future. Yes, nutrition, greater emphasis on prenatal care, and revolutionary (new age) socialization theories are contributing factors, but the kinds of changes we’re experiencing in our young goes far beyond anything these practices can explain. For them, this realm of invisible energy is a reality, rather than a speculation or a belief. Imagine a future world where everyone can see the aura of a person from a distance and know in advance whether or not they want to engage with the energy field heading their way. Imagine being able to read the thoughts of another, and have your thoughts read in return. There could be no deceit, no hiding of true intentions, no emotional game playing in such a world. Regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, or culture, we would all pretty much be on an equal playing field. What an Aquarian world it would be! I don’t think that future world is as far off as most people imagine. Of course there will be problems, but never fear. The thought police will never be far away!
“We take a handful of sand from the endless landscape of awareness around us
and call that handful of sand the world.”
